2005 grant of $5000 to attend Mosaic Art School in Italy
“When I heard that I had been awarded the grant, I felt a tremendous
sense of gratitude and appreciation for the grand opportunity to study
mosaics in Ravenna, Italy, the "Mosaic Capital of the World", with an
internationally known mosaic artist, Luciana Notturni. I also felt a great responsibility to live the experience to the fullest, gaining all the knowledge possible in a limited amount of time. The entire experience was life and career changing as it broadened my perspective of mosaics as public art.
“The experience of travelling to Italy truly increased my sense of
confidence. The selection committee noticed potential and offered me a grand opportunity for an outstanding experience that I am now sharing with the community through the venues of art education and public art.”
